The Corn Hall, in the heart of Diss, is a stunning venue and ideal for a wide range of events. Having recently undergone a £2.2 million redevelopment, this historic building offers modern facilities with flexible hire spaces.

Our spaces are generally set up in advance for hirers and this is included in the price. A Duty Manager is in the building for the duration of the hire and Stewards can be provided at no additional cost, where required. A Box Office service is also available for ticketed events. Depending on the time of day and numbers attending, our staffed café and/or bar may also be open, for the convenience of your visitors. Some marketing can usually be provided which could include entry into our brochure, details on our website, posters within our venue and sharing on our Social Media platforms, all included in the price of hire, although this applies only if we are selling the event.


Main Auditorium

Our versatile auditorium offers theatre-style seating for 296 people. With the raked seating retracted, it has a standing capacity of 400 and measures approximately 19 by 12½ metres (including the stage). There is an extendable stage as well as a large cinema screen, to which a computer can be connected for a presentation or film. A full lighting rig and audio system are also place. The green room (upstairs), with hanging rail and mirrors etc are included with the hire of the main auditorium, if required.

Waveney Room

On a day-to-day basis the Waveney Room is our main café area, however it can be closed off to the public and hired privately. It can be set up with tables and chairs in various formats and a small cinema screen is also in place, to which a computer can be connected for a presentation or film. The dimensions of this space are approximately 10 by 6 metres.

The Walden Studio/Council Chamber

Directly above the Waveney Room, is The Walden Studio and Council Chamber. This space is also approximately 10 by 6 metres. The room is carpeted and has tables and chairs that can be formatted in rows, as a boardroom or conference space. A laptop can be connected to a large wall mounted television (54″ wide x 33″ deep) for presentations or film.




Main & Upper Galleries

These spaces usually have art exhibitions in situ which can include sculptures on plinths, so they are not generally hired out on their own, but as an additional space for meeting & greeting, socialising etc. It is regrettably not possible to hire the galleries to display your own artwork.

Bar & Café

Our café is open Monday-Saturday from 9:30am-3.00pm. Depending on numbers, we can also arrange to open it at other times, along with our bar, for your event.  Outdoor seating is available.

Entire Venue

This covers all of the above spaces plus our entrance lobby. The entire venue can be hired outside of our usual opening hours of Monday-Saturday 10am-4.00pm.


Our yard can be used for the purpose of unloading/loading equipment but then vehicles need to be taken away and parked. There are various pay-and-display car parks nearby, the closest of which is approximately a 2 minute walk away.
