Getting your Board on board!

Being new to the Corn Hall Board of Trustees and also to involvement in the arts sector I was happy to take up the offer of a training day run by ‘house’ an organization aiming to ‘ ‘strengthen the theatre ecology of South East England by hosting regular training and networking opportunities and brokering conversations between companies and venues’.

The training day called ‘Getting your Board on board’ covered topics including legal issues for boards such as governance, data protection and charity law and also had speakers dealing with fund raising and diversity . I found it a very interesting and informative day with some good discussion around the various topics. I also found it helpful to have the chance to network with Trustees and venue directors and managers from other areas.

Breakout groups in the afternoon covering each of the topics also gave us the chance to have a more in depth discussion with speakers taking advantage of their expertise to discuss any particular issues we may have had with which they could help.

The day was held in the Theatre Royal at Drury Lane which also meant we were able to have a sneaky preview of some of the rehearsal for 42nd Street!
Thanks to house for a great day
