A riotous performance of Peter Pan is captured by a drawing soldier

Last Saturday Peter Pan flew into the Corn Hall in search of his shadow and, along with the Darling family, took the Saturday Club on an amazing adventure to Neverland. There were so many pirates, including Dave, and the mermaids just had to be seen to be believed! As for the crocodile, this most ferocious creature made very short work of Captain (coathanger) Hook!   The final show of Lamphouse Theatre’s tour of their brilliant production of Peter Pan and they really had saved all the best jokes for this performance.

We were very fortunate to be joined at the performance by war artist Douglas Farthing MBE whose Drawing Soldier exhibition is currently in our Upper Gallery. During the show, Doug made sketches of Peter Pan and these can be seen with this article. Perhaps we will see him as artist in residence with us sometime in the future?

We hope to see you all at our pantomime, Dick Whittington during December, and at our Saturday Club events again in 2019. We have top children’s illustrator, Nick Sharratt with his ‘Right Royal Draw Along’ on Sunday 24 February, at 2:00pm, and in March we have Pete Murdoch back by popular demand with ‘Pete’s Family Jam’.
