Blues on the Farm
Live Music featuring three of the very best blues artists that East Anglia has to offer – The Dave Thomas Band, The Delta Beltas and Dove and Boweevil.
The Dave Thomas Band – Dave Thomas is the guitarist and bandleader of choice for many big blues names visiting the UK and Europe from the USA. Dave has a number of critically acclaimed albums that are as varied as they are classy – blues music that has a clear lineage from its 1950s and 1960s roots. Dave has performed by special invitation for Sir Paul McCartney, with Paul Jones and The Blues Band and recently appeared at the Chicago Blues Festival. The band features some of the very best blues musicians in Norfolk and Norwich. They are the house band at the long-established Fine City Blues Club in Norwich and will be fielding their ‘A’ team line up for Blues On The Farm!
The Delta Beltas play early American Blues from the Mississippi Delta, and more modern jazz/country blues with up-beat rhythms, toe-tapping melodies, great vocal harmonies, keyboard, harmonica, trombone, percussion and slide-guitar. Sunny Boy Summerson, Memphis Annie and Barry Langston are all multi-instrumentalists and vocalists and the fourth member of the band, Ray Bowden, on percussion – well “it don’t mean a thing, if Ray can’t make it swing”!
Dove & Boweevil – Vocalist Lauren Dove and Guitarist Mark Howes – have built a first-rate reputation on the British Blues scene, and are widely recognised as an act to watch. Constantly carving their own style, whether acoustic or eclectically electric, Dove and Boweevil draw influences from soul, funk, gospel, blues, Americana and jazz. In 2014 they were respectively nominated for best vocalist and best guitarist in the British Blues Awards.
The farm is putting on a magnificent barbecue with some of its best home grown produce and, to wash the delicious food down, there'll be a bar serving a choice of wines and soft drinks and featuring local ales from the Grain Brewery and the Bull of the Woods Brewing Company.
