Enter the Dragons
Written and performed by Abigail Dooley and Emma Edwards
Enter the Dragons is a hilarious, surreal odyssey through the challenges of growing older, which explodes myths about beauty, sex and femininity. Expect fantastical characters, ridiculous puppetry, extreme wigs, physical comedy and delightfully dark humour. Sixty minutes of laugh-out-loud joy, dissent and touching humility for anyone who is considering ageing.
An archetypal Hero is reframed as a mature woman in the modern world. Gripped with fear at her advancing years, she sets off on an epic quest to defeat Chronos, the god of time, and halt the inevitable - ageing. Will she succeed?
Abigail Dooley and Emma Edwards say:
“As two women in our late 40’s and early 50’s we are personally experiencing the transition from young to old and all the taboos, fears and joys it brings. There is a lack of positive, empowering voices for woman 50 + in society and we are excited to use our experience and knowledge in physical theatre to explore this subject; there are very few mature female performers using bouffon or clown.”
Approx 60 mins no interval. Age 14+ Contains strong language and nudity
The Enter the Dragons tour is presented by house. house is a development initiative delivered by Farnham Maltings and supported by Arts Council England to improve the range, quality and scale of theatre presented across the south east of England. housetheatre.org.uk
