A wry and poignant observation of the refugee experience set on a fictional remote Scottish island where a group of new arrivals await the results of their asylum claims. Omar is a young Syrian musician who is burdened by his grandfather's oud as well as the guilt, regret and grief that comes with leaving his former life behind.

Surrounded by gale-force winds and stormy seas, Omar and his fellow asylum seekers endure puzzling cultural-awareness lessons from an oddball pair of locals, and spend much of their time queuing to call loved ones on the island’s only payphone or heatedly (and hilariously) debating the relationship between Ross and Rachel while binge-watching Friends.
