Open Road – in person screening
Venue: The Corn Hall
Films about freedom, made during lockdown
Following the success of our virtual premiere of Open Road in April, we're proud now to give you the opportunity to view this confident and thoughtful collection of short films by local young creatives in person and on the big screen.
Made during lockdown the films are a response to world events and to Walt Whitman's epic poem 'Song of the Open Road'.
Our film-makers, who are aged between 15 and 24, were inspired by weekly online masterclasses delivered digitally during lockdown from creative practitioners: Tyrone Huggins, Sarita Piotrowski, Lil Woods, Sadie Clark, Aga Serugo-Lugo, Hazel Holder, Guy Martin and Lewis Wickwar. They worked in close collaboration with three professional actor/mentors: Sadie Clark, Kit Esuruoso and Lil Woods, who also appear in some of the films.
Act Now! aims to activate young people to engage with and feed into the Corn Hall's artistic programme, by exploring their own creative potential. The Act Now! Collective is continuing to meet weekly to develop future creative work to be programmed at the Corn Hall.
We do hope you can join us. Approximately 60 mins incl introduction, screening and Q&A
Open Road is supported by local film company Reel Connections CIC.
The Act Now! company was instigated by Norfolk and Norwich Festival ‘Creative Individual’ Emma Bernard, in partnership with The Corn Hall, and with project funding from Arts Council England.
