Pain & Glory (15)

Venue: The Corn Hall

Directed by pedro Almodovar

With Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, Asier Etxeandia

In Spanish with English subtitles

A well-known Spanish director, Salvador Mallo, reflects on the choices he has made in his life (from his childhood to his cinema career) as past and present come crashing around him.

An equisitely shot and well-described largely autobiographical film about emptiness, recollection of the past and most importantly, about salvation. The film also describes well pain, sadness, self discovery, forgiveness, regret, all these feelings that the director is going through.

Antonio Banderas gives the performance of his career in a drama that blurs the line between art and life.

Tonight’s film is programmed by the Young Film Programmers group. Working with Reel Connections, Film Hub South East and the BFI, the group is an opportunity for local film fans aged 16-25 years to learn about the film industry and to programme, publicise and manage their very own screenings and events!
