Daniel Day-Lewis (in his last film prior to retirement) plays Reynolds Woodcock, a renowned dressmaker in the 1950s, whose fastidious life is disrupted by a young, strong-willed woman, Alma, who becomes his muse and lover. This is a beautifully crafted, intimate movie with stunning cinematography and a loving attention to period detail. A perfect swansong for Day-Lewis and a showcase for both actor and director at the top of their game.
