DISS • NORFOLK

Romeo & Juliet –

Production Company: The Handlebards
Venue: Diss Park

Three actors cooped up together during lockdown. Fuelled by cabin fever and with a bookshelf full of Shakespeare, they did what they do best and created an unhinged and bonkers, laugh-out-loud version of Romeo & Juliet.

With music, mayhem and more costume changes than you can shake a spear at, expect the HandleBards usual irreverent, charming and hilarious style to come bursting onto the stage at Diss Park, IP22 4AU.

Forget the tears and tragedy, pack a picnic and get ready for some socially-distanced, live and wired Shakespeare as you’ve never seen it before.

This is an outdoor production so please feel free to bring your own chairs, blankets and cushions. The show running time is 90 minutes (without an interval).

How it will work

We’ll be seating households and social bubbles at a social distance for the performance, in line with government regulations. Please make sure that booking is for your household/social bubble only. This will give us an idea of how many groups/picnics there will be on the day. If you want to book for someone else who isn’t in your household or social bubble that’s fine – just book for your household and then book their tickets as a new transaction.

Keeping you safe

We have implemented a range of extra safety measures to keep you safe during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. You can read a copy of these below.

Updates

Because of the possibility of changes required by the Government at short notice, please ensure that you have given us your contact details for the best way to get in touch with you. Email is recommended and do check your trash bin.

OUR COVID-19 SAFETY POLICY

In conversation with local authorities and venues, and in line with current government guidance, we have implemented a range of measures to ensure the health and safety of our audiences and staff at all times. These measures are under constant review, and apply across all of our performances at all venues. Please note that there may be some differences for some venues, such as the Lawrence Batley Theatre, Roman Theatre of St Albans and Brighton Open Air Theatre, who have their own Covid-19 policies in place. Please refer to their respective websites for more information.

Arriving at the venue

We will be opening the gates for each performance at least one hour before the show start time, to allow everybody to arrive at their leisure and avoid large queues outside the venue. All tickets will be digital, and checked without contact at a social distance at the gate.

Hand sanitiser

Hand sanitiser will be available and all audience members will be asked to sanitise their hands at the entrance to the performance area.

Loos

All performances will take place without an interval, and you are welcome to use the loo at any time during the performance.

Social distancing at the performance

Each household or social bubble will be seated at a safe distance from other households or social bubbles, in line with government guidance at the time of the performance.

Food and refreshments

You are welcome to bring your own food and drink to most performances (as long as you take your rubbish home afterwards!)

Performance

The three performers have spent the entirety of lockdown together, and as such the performance itself will only have some minor changes to our normal format. The biggest benefit? Your picnics are now safe, as we won’t be stealing any of them anymore!

Departure

We’ll be managing the departure from the performance area so to avoid people crowding together same time.

Ticketing policy

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, have been diagnosed with the virus or have been in direct contact with a diagnosed individual in the past 14 days, you must not attend the event. If you are unable to attend due to illness, fear not, you can transfer your ticket to any other event in our 2020 season free of charge, pending ticket availability. If we can’t accommodate your request because of venue capacity, we’ll provide you with a ticket voucher at the full face value of your ticket, to be redeemed at any event in our 2021 season. In order to request a ticket transfer, please email [email protected]

Please note that this transfer policy only applies to tickets purchased from www.thecornhall.co.uk as other venues will have their own policies if they are selling tickets.

NHS Track and Trace

The government has asked venues and events to collect and maintain records of customers and share them, where requested, with NHS Test and Trace. This is so that NHS Test and Trace can identify and inform those who may have been exposed to COVID-19, having been in close contact with somebody who has tested positive for the virus.

Upon arrival you will provided with an NHS Test and Trace form (either digital or physical). The form will ask for a name, contact phone number and date of visit.

Children under 16 will not be asked to provide their details, since they can visit only when accompanied by an adult parent/carer, who can complete the form as ‘lead member’.

While it is neither a legal requirement for you to provide this information NHS Test and Trace is an important tool for the NHS in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 – and we encourage all audience members to complete a form.
