Sam Carter
Sam Carter is a BBC Folk Award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist
known for his lyrical storytelling and expressive fingerpicking.
Described by Uncut as “as penetrating as Richard Thompson’s best work”
and praised by Guitarist Magazine as part of the UK’s
proud folk tradition, Carter blends English folk, shape-note singing,
and indie-rock across six solo albums and two with folk-rock band False
Lights.
His latest release, Silver Horizon, produced by Andy Bell, hit the Top
40 Folk Chart and showcases lush, dreamlike soundscapes. With standout
performances on Later… with Jools Holland and acclaim from artists like
Nitin Sawhney and Jon Boden, Carter continues
to captivate audiences with his raw honesty, humour, and musical
brilliance.
“Really wonderful” — Jools Holland
“The finest English-style fingerpicking guitarist of his generation” — Jon Boden
“Killer voice” — Nitin Sawhney
