Yoshi Shinagawa – Corn Hall Friends
Venue: The Corn Hall
This collection of portraits by photographer Yoshi Shinagawa depicts friends of The Corn Hall during the third national lockdown.
Taken through the windows of their homes, these intensely personal portraits are distorted by the glare and reflection of the glass pane.
This abstraction recounts the governments’ stay at home policy issued on 6 January 2021.
Yet Shinagawa conveys a hopefulness through his subjects. In many of the photographs, we pay witness to the relationships that have provided support during these tumultuous times.
By drawing on our own shared experiences of lockdown, Shinagawa emphasises the collective spirit that has defined the past year.
