Coronavirus and The Corn Hall
The world is currently in the grip of a global pandemic. We have implement measures at The Corn Hall to help keep you, our volunteers and staff as safe as possible and to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Signs & Symptoms
We have told our staff and volunteers if they experience any of the following:
- a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing continuously for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
We ask you, our loyal customers that if you experience any of the above to not come to The Corn Hall and to self isolate at home for 10 days.
We have created a dynamic risk assessment which is a live document and is constantly being updated. All staff have been briefed on this and the new safety measures implemented.
We are mainly keeping with the Government recommended 2-metre distancing rule and are implementing this wherever possible. There are some events that we can reduce this and use the recommended 1m+ distancing rule. Please observe physical distancing wherever you can whilst inside The Corn Hall.
We have placed around the building hand sanitising units. These are clearly signed and have been placed at strategic locations the building so they are readily accessible for everyone to use.
We have placed protective screens at contact points in the building such as the Box Office and Cafe counters. This puts a physical screen between you and our volunteers and staff to reduce the potential spread of Covid-19.
One Way Round
There is now a one way system in place at The Corn Hall and when using the Cafe. You will see arrows and markings on the floor to help with guiding you around.
The rules around toilets will need to change depending on the size of the event and the use. However, general day to day use for customers using the Cafe we have implemented a one in and one out system. Because of distancing rules we have had to close the ground floor ladies, but have opened up both the gents and the accessible toilet for everyone to use.
When coming to the Cafe, you will be asked for your name and a contact detail – this could be an address, email or best telephone number. This is to help with the NHS Track and Trace service. We will NOT use your information for any marketing nor will we share it with any one else. We will keep your data securely for 21 days from when you visited and then afterwards it will be securely destroyed and in line with guidelines from the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). All food and drinks are prepared within the Covid-19 guidelines and from the Food Standards Agency
Face Coverings and or Masks
When attending The Corn Hall, you are now required by law to wear a face covering. Please make sure that you bring with you your face covering with you.
We would like to reassure you that we have introduced special cleaning measures throughout the building including antibacterial misting of performance spaces after every use.
Attending an event at the Corn Hall
So that you know what to expect, please read through this information carefully.
Arriving at the Corn Hall: To avoid long queues, we are asking customers to stagger their arrival times. We will be in touch with you prior to the event to advise you when to arrive. If attending as a bubble group, please arrive to be seated together.
Physical Distancing at events: In order to ensure everyone’s safety, our capacity numbers have been drastically reduced from 285 to 56. Seating has been calculated to ensure each bubble group is kept a safe distance from others. Currently this involves seating bubbles at their own tables which are 2metres apart. To ensure the safety of yourselves and your fellow customers, we ask that you do not move the positions of your chairs.
Tickets: Tickets will generally not be available on the door. Please have your pre-purchased tickets ready to show our volunteer stewards (on your phone or hard copies) as you enter the main hall. We will not be removing the stub to avoid any risk of cross contamination.
Refreshments: We are now trialling a cafe service for films and screenings. Under the current rules we can only provide a table service. We will keep reviewing this situation and will expand it as long as the regulations allows us to and providing it is safe to do so.
Using the Toilets: To avoid queues for the toilets at the interval you will be able to come and go throughout the performance. If necessary, please use the sanitizing products to help us keep the toilets clean. During the interval a member of our team will be monitoring the queue for the toilets.
Concerns: We understand that this has been a worrying time and that some of you may have questions or concerns you’d like answered. You may even prefer to pop in and talk to us, and see how things are set up to reassure yourself about what is planned.
