Coronavirus, Tier 2 & The Corn Hall

As you know, the world is currently in the grip of a global pandemic and in Norfolk we are in Tier 2. This means that there are some additional restrictions placed upon us and we have implemented those at The Corn Hall to help keep you, our volunteers and staff as safe as possible and to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Visiting The Corn Hall

The Corn Hall is open to the public Monday to Saturday between 10am & 2.30pm.

When attending The Corn Hall, to use the café, purchase tickets or visit the current exhibition, we will be asking you to check in using the NHS Track & Trace app. In addition to this, Corn Hall staff and volunteers are legally required to ask for your name and trace contact details.

Households & Bubbles

When attending The Corn Hall, you can only come with people from the same household or bubble. We are now required by the law to ask if people are in the same household or bubble.

Buying Tickets for Shows and Events

We can only sell tickets for shows and events to people who are either from the same household or bubble. If you are buying a number of tickets, our fabulous Box Office volunteers will be confirming that you are all from the same household or bubble.

Signs & Symptoms

We have told our staff and volunteers if they experience any of the following to stay at home and self-isolate for 10 days:

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

We ask you, our loyal customers that if you experience any of the above to not come to The Corn Hall and to self-isolate at home for 10 days.

Risk Assessment

We have a dynamic risk assessment which is a live document and is constantly being updated to ensure that everyone’s safety is observed. All staff have been briefed on this and the new safety measures implement. To see a copy of the risk assessment please email [email protected]

Physical (Social) Distancing

We don’t like the term social distancing, because we all want to be social but with some space between us. Therefore, we are calling it PHYSICAL distancing. We know that it will not always be possible, but we ask you to observe physical distancing wherever you can whilst inside The Corn Hall.

Hand Sanitising

We have around the building hand sanitising units. These have been placed at strategic locations, so they are readily accessible for everyone to use. Please feel free to use them as often or as much as you want.

We have placed protective screens at contact points in the building such as the Box Office and Cafe counters. This puts a physical screen between you and our volunteers and staff to reduce the potential spread of Covid-19.

One Way Round

There is now a one-way system in place at The Corn Hall and we ask you to read the signs and keep to this as much as possible.

Please feel free to spend a penny in our toilets. These are cleaned daily and are checked at regular intervals throughout the day to ensure they are as clean as possible.

The Main Hall (Auditorium)

The hall now looks very different. With physical distancing, the number of chairs we can have is 60. We have put the raked seating away and all seats are on floor level. Due to the unique space at The Corn Hall we can arrange seating in theatre style (rows) or in cabaret style (with chairs around tables). All seating is physically distanced using the 1 metre plus rule.

When coming to the Cafe, you will be asked for your name and a contact detail – this could be an address, email, or best telephone number. This is to help with the NHS Track and Trace service. We will NOT use your information for any marketing nor will we share it with anyone else. We will keep your data securely for 21 days from when you visited and then afterwards it will be securely destroyed and in line with guidelines from the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). All food and drinks are prepared within the Covid-19 guidelines and from the Food Standards Agency

Face Coverings and or Masks

You are required by law to wear a face covering when inside The Corn Hall. There are of course a few exceptions to this such as eating or drinking. We will be proactive in asking people who are not wearing a face covering to do so. We ask that you help us and comply with the current legislation around the wearing of face coverings.

If you would like any other information on the steps we have taken to become Covid-19 compliant please do not hesitate to email [email protected] or call 01379 652241, if you leave a message the Operations Manager will get back to you as soon as reasonable practicable.
