We welcome a Sonic Wave curated music event with a special double-bill: award-winning Irish singer and flautist Ríoghnach Connolly followed by Orchestra of Samples, the global music project by ethno-sampling mavericks Addictive TV.
Signed to Peter Gabriel's Real World record label and recently named Folk Singer of the Year by both BBC Radio 2 and RTÉ Radio 1, Ríoghnach Connolly is a prolific Irish singer-songwriter and flautist from County Armagh who performs internationally with acclaimed acts including Afro Celt Sound System, Honeyfeet and The Breath. Rooted in the traditions of Irish folk and Sean-nós (traditional Irish vocal music), her performances also draw from blues and jazz, connecting ancestral song traditions with contemporary storytelling.

Described as "ingenious and compelling" by The Times, Orchestra of Samples is a unique musical journey without borders by artists Addictive TV, bringing together musicians and instruments from around the world. Over two decades they've built a vast archive, filming hundreds of musicians improvising worldwide, from India to Senegal, Kazakhstan to Colombia, sampling them all to create new music of extraordinary fusions. Connecting cultures through music, the performance showcases a huge variety of instruments, many traditional, some rare and others newly-invented.
