David Hockney – Adventures in Print
David Hockney, perhaps the country’s favourite living artist, found fame as much for his prints as his paintings; a naturally gifted draughtsman, Hockney immediately felt in his element when he tried his hand at etching as a student. Our brief survey, which coincides with the National Portrait Gallery’s ‘David Hockney: Drawing from Life’, follows his career from his days as a ‘blonde bombshell’ in the early ‘60s to his current exploration of iPad drawings.
