Luke Wright’s Stand-Up Poetry Club –

Venue: The Corn Hall

We’re back, and on a May bank holiday week too! Lovely!

This month we welcome back Tim Turnbull. Eminently accessible, Turnbull does bold rhymes, caustic commentary and mucky jokes, all in an affable deadpan. His new collection is Avanti where Turnbull engages more deeply with place and landscape, with domestic intimacy and tenderness.

We’re also cock-a-hoop that Molly Naylor will be reading from her collection Badminton. Naylor writes poems that speak frankly and boldly about learning how to live. Part confession, part manifesto; Badminton is a book that manages to celebrate humanity whilst despairing of its ugly bits. The Guardian has called her work “brave, funny, tough and beautiful.” You’ll see why.

Luke Wright is your host with the vegan roast. Be there.
