Rope

Venue: The Corn Hall
The play that inspired Alfred Hitchcock, Rope by Patrick Hamilton is a pitch black comedy of murder and intrigue.

It’s 1929, Brandy Wyndham and Charlie Granillo have just committed murder. Not out of hatred, but for the mere sake of adventure, danger and the "fun of the thing".

Brandy believes it a perfect crime, without motive or clue, and has decided to host a dinner party on the same night the murder has been committed. The dinner party will be centred around an innocuous trunk, in which is interred the body of their victim.

Rope follows the action of the evening as Brandy prods and pokes the guests, daring them to unearth the grim mystery in the locked trunk. But Brandy’s confidence may be undone by Granillo, who is finding the pressure all a bit too much to take. Only Ruth Cadell, a poet, embittered by an injury, seems to be onto them but the question is whether she will be judge or conspirator.

This is an amateur production in special arrangement with Concord Theatricals. Due to the nature of casting some roles have been gender-swapped. This play will be performed in the round.

Running time approx. 120 minutes with an interval.
Suitable for ages 12+
