Sour Puss – A magical performance according to our young reviewer

Recently I went to watch the heart-warming children’s play, Sourpuss here at the Corn Hall in Diss. The acting capabilities of puppeteer Joanna May were so impressive the puppet strings disappeared and the puppets came to life. I loved how easy it was for children to understand and participate in the performance.  I think the audience particularly enjoyed the children’s comedy and the cat itself.  Joanna did an amazing job of getting the audience involved, such as when the bee puppet flew and landed on various people.

I thought it was a magical performance, it was funny and child friendly, but had such a lovely story behind it.  I was especially impressed as it was all done with only one actor. The scenery was beautifully done giving the play just that little bit extra.

After the main performance children were invited to a free workshop where they were allowed to make their very own shadow puppets. The children and adults produced some amazing creations which they used to create little puppet shows. It was lots of fun and a truly great experience for everyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Our next Saturday Club family show is on Saturday 12 May at 11:30am. It is an adaptation of Charles Kingsley’s ‘The Water Babies’ performed by String Theatre with specially commissioned music. We do hope to see you all there.
