The Corn Hall Café Raises £3140 for Ukraine

The Corn Hall Café has raised an amazing £3140 for The Red Cross Ukraine Appeal following their hugely successful Coffee morning. Lara Macmillan, Café Manager organised the event, with the help of colleague Sue Sizer.

‘We’ve seen it all over the news and seen people suffering, we feel so powerless. I knew I needed to do something to help. Together with the help of staff and volunteers, in just over a week, we managed to pull together a  coffee morning which included some fundraising activities.’

The event, had live music, a raffle, an online auction, sales of handmade Ukraine badges and all the proceeds of the food and drink went to the cause.

Staff and volunteers on the day have been left overwhelmed by the support from the local community.

‘as soon as we opened on Sunday there was a line of people wanting teas and coffees, or just to show their support. By midday we had run out of scones and volunteers were helping us keep up with all of the drinks orders. We were constantly getting out more and more chairs for people as it was so busy.’

Here at The Corn Hall we would just like to say a huge thank you for everyone who showed their support, Lara and her team for making the fundraiser happen and to all the volunteers and staff on the day.
